West Bridgford & Rushcliffe Horticultural Society    

Membership is open to allotment holders and private gardeners living in Rushcliffe. The society sells fertilisers , compost, pesticides and fungicides. There is a seed scheme with Kings seeds of Colchester which generally gives 40% discount. A show is held early in September with vegetable, flower, floral art, home produce and children’s classes. The society also runs three trips a year to places of interest to gardeners. To join the society go to one of the society huts on Loughborough Road or Stamford Road allotment sites on a Sunday morning.

 Membership;- £2.00 per year, Life Membership £20.00. Over 60s half price

Trips 2024

The society is planning a trip to RHS Bridgewater on Thursday 13th the cost is £12.50 per seat. Places can be booked via the society huts or email admin@wbrhort.co.uk for availability. Other local visits and events may also be arranged this year. Please watch out for further messages or notices on the Allotment sites

 

Hut News

As well as our normal composts and fertilizers we are now selling STRULCH, a straw based mulch which will rot down and add organic matter to the soil, and has similar nutritional benefits to farmyard manure. A first delivery of 48, 13Kg bags has almost sold out. If you are likely to purchase STRULCH later this Spring/Summer please let the huts know,

The Huts

 

The trading huts are open on Sunday mornings for the sale of compost, fertilisers and chemicals to members. The huts are on the Loughborough Road, Burleigh Road and Stamford Road sites. Membership is open to plot holders and gardeners in Rushcliffe.

Society History.

 

A lady came to one of the trading huts late in 2022 with a written history of the Society which we think was compiled by her deceased Father

unfortunately we don’t know their names but the history which goes back to 1915 is very interesting. Download the WORD document here.
